To bridge the gender gap in sleep medicine, several strategies should be implemented. It is important to educate healthcare professionals about gender-specific manifestations of sleep disorders to improve diagnosis and treatment. It is also critical that we ensure gender diversity in clinical trials and research studies to result in better-tailored therapies. To further close the gender-based gap, organization policies should support equitable access to sleep studies, treatment options, and specialized care for marginalized populations. Last but not the least, encouraging patients to seek second opinions and participate in support groups can empower individuals to receive proper care.
